IBAN setup with Airtm — a EUR IBAN when the other three are not available

Airtm is the fourth IBAN option on your Payouts page, and the one to reach for when the other three are not available where you live. It is a digital-dollar wallet, not a bank: its EUR Virtual Account gives you an IBAN that accepts SEPA transfers in euros, and the euros are converted to USDC the moment they land. That trade-off — plus one thing about whose name the account is in — is what this guide is about.

Read this one if Paxum, Wise and Payoneer are all unavailable in your country. If any of them is available, use it instead: they hand you an IBAN in your own name, which keeps everything simpler. To compare all four first, see IBAN setup for international creators (overview).

For where the IBAN goes once you have it, see Setting up your Partner-ID for the first time. For the bigger picture — rev share, monthly cycle, when payouts run — see How creator payouts work.

1. What Airtm is, and the one catch

Airtm is operated by Airtm Inc., a company registered in Delaware and registered with FinCEN as a Money Services Business. It has been running since 2015 and is built for people who earn internationally but cannot get a local bank account that works across borders.

Reaches countries the other three do not

The EUR Virtual Account is offered to most Airtm users, and cash-out runs through 500+ local payment methods.

This is the whole reason it is on the list. If Paxum, Wise and Payoneer all stop at your border, Airtm often does not.

Free to open, free to receive

No activation fee, no monthly fee, and no fee on incoming SEPA transfers.

The euro-to-USDC conversion happens at the market rate with no markup from Airtm. Your cost comes later, when you move money out to a local bank or wallet.

The catch: the account is not in your name

The IBAN is registered to Bridge Ventures, Airtm‘s banking partner — not to you.

Every other provider on the Payouts page gives you an IBAN in your own name. This one does not, and that is why section 5 exists. Do not skip it.

You are paid in USDC, not euros

Euros that arrive are converted to USDC — a digital dollar — as they are credited.

If you want to hold euros, this is the wrong product for you. Pick Paxum or Wise instead.

Receiving creator payouts through Airtm is allowed. What is not allowed is selling content through it — the EUR Virtual Account only receives, so that is not something it can do anyway. If you have a question about your own situation, open a support ticket and we will answer it directly.

2. What you’ll need before you start

  • Government-issued photo ID — passport, national ID card, or driver’s license.
  • Your full legal name — exactly as it appears on that ID, and exactly as it appears on your Partner-ID registration and your GuyScat account. Not a stage name.
  • A desktop or laptop computer. The EUR Virtual Account can only be activated in a desktop browser — the step does not exist in the mobile app. You can do everything else on a phone.
  • Around 20 minutes, plus however long Airtm takes to verify your ID.

3. Create and verify your Airtm account

  1. Go to airtm.com and create a Personal account.
  2. Enter your full legal name, date of birth, country of residence, and phone number.
  3. Confirm your email address.
  4. Complete the identity check. Upload your photo ID when prompted. The EUR Virtual Account is only offered on a verified account, so there is no way to skip this.

4. Activate your EUR Virtual Account

Do this part on a computer. The section is not shown in the mobile app, and creators who look for it on a phone conclude the feature does not exist.

  1. Log in to Airtm in a desktop browser.
  2. Open the EUR Virtual Account section.
  3. Read and accept the terms, then follow the activation steps on screen.
  4. Your IBAN is displayed as soon as activation finishes. Copy it somewhere safe.

5. Before you use it: the account-holder check

This is the step that makes Airtm different from the other three providers, and the one worth two minutes of your time.

Your Partner-ID registration asks for an account holder alongside the IBAN, and it expects that name to be yours. With Paxum, Wise or Payoneer it is. With Airtm the IBAN belongs to Bridge Ventures, so the two do not line up on their own.

Open a support ticket before you enter this IBAN anywhere. Go to your Store Manager, choose Support, and pick the category Alternative payout method. Tell us you are using an Airtm EUR Virtual Account. We check it against our billing partner and come back to you — it is usually a same-day answer, and it saves you a rejected registration.

6. What happens when a payout arrives

  • We send your payout as a SEPA transfer in euros. Airtm says most transfers arrive within 1–2 business hours, and up to one business day depending on the sending bank. Its help pages give up to three business days as the outer bound for a standard (non-instant) SEPA transfer.
  • On arrival, the euros are converted to USDC at the market rate at that moment. Airtm adds no margin to that rate.
  • The balance then sits in your Airtm wallet until you withdraw it, using whichever local method you prefer.

Two limits worth knowing: the smallest incoming transfer is 5 EUR, and the account only accepts SEPA in euros. A SWIFT transfer or a payment in another currency is rejected automatically. You also cannot send money out of the EUR account — it exists purely to receive.

7. Fees

What Cost
Opening the account Free
Monthly maintenance None
Receiving EUR via SEPA Free
EUR to USDC conversion Market rate, no Airtm markup
Withdrawing to your local bank or wallet Depends on the method and your country — check inside Airtm before you pick one

So the account itself is genuinely free; the cost is in the last step. Compare a couple of withdrawal methods in your country before you settle on one — the spread between them can be larger than anything you saved on the way in.

8. Common problems

I cannot find the EUR Virtual Account anywhere.
You are almost certainly in the mobile app. Log in from a desktop browser — activation only exists there.

My country is not offered.
The EUR Virtual Account is not enabled everywhere. If Airtm does not offer it to you, and Paxum, Wise and Payoneer are all unavailable too, open a support ticket in the category Alternative payout method — there is a manual route for exactly this situation.

A transfer was rejected.
The EUR account takes SEPA in euros and nothing else. If someone sent SWIFT, or sent US dollars, it bounces automatically.

Can I get paid in euros instead of USDC?
Not through Airtm — the conversion is part of how the product works. If holding euros matters to you, use Paxum or Wise.

Is my money safe there?
USDC is a regulated stablecoin issued by Circle and backed 1:1 by US dollars. That said, Airtm is a payments company, not a bank, and balances are not covered by bank deposit insurance. Treat it as a place money passes through, not a place it lives — withdraw to your local account on a regular rhythm.
